Michael Arden

Director

Michael Arden (Director) began his theatrical career at age 10 playing Tiny Tim in the Midland Community Theatre's production of A Christmas Carol in Midland Texas. Michael brought a one-man version of Charles Dickens' haunting and inspiring tale, featuring the extraordinary Jefferson Mayes, to Broadway as well as to the screen as A Christmas Carol Live.

Past directing credits include Deaf West Theater's Spring Awakening (Tony Nomination), Once on this Island (Tony Nomination and the 2018 Tony Winner for Best Revival of a Musical), American Dream Study and Alien/Nation (with the Forest of Arden), Maybe Happy Ending, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Lincoln Center, The Pride, Merrily We Roll Along at the Wallis Annenberg in Los Angeles, My Fair Lady (Bay Street Theater), and Annie at the Hollywood Bowl.

Michael is a regular director of The Connors on ABC. His new production of Jason Robert Brown and Alfred Uhry's Parade, having played at New York City Center to an acclaimed, sold-out run, is now running on Broadway as a limited engagement.

Michael is the founder and company member of the Forest of Arden, a collective of artists who create site-specific and immersive new forms of theatre. It is his hope that Scrooge's visitations may inspire us all to lead more empathetic and benevolent lives. "God bless us everyone!"
